Undertake the "Impossible"

"Unless a man undertakes more than he possibly can do, he will never
do all that he can
."
Henry Drummond (1851-1897)
Scottish scientist, evangelist and author

I love quotes. I am amazed at people’s ability to take an inspirational message and capture it in just a few words.

The quote above has become my new mantra, and I am sharing it with you because I want YOU to achieve beyond YOUR expectation.

I must admit, that the reason I don’t always challenge myself is simply due to fear. More specifically, the fear of failure. Because I have achieved a certain level of success in various aspects of my life, the idea of possible failure looms large and prevents me from taking on certain challenges. (It's amazing that success can actually be a force that limits forward progress.)

But what if we don’t fail at the thing that we’re afraid to try? What if we actually succeed? What am I missing out on by playing it safe?

I think it’s time we explore the limits of our own potential. I think it’s time for us to undertake the impossible.

(For more on this subject, see I Ain't Scared)

Saying something is "impossible" is all a state of mind. If you think something is impossible even before you try it, you're defeated before you start.

Now finally, a topic I can relate to....lol..
I have to admit that I had to stop and think when I heard you talking about having the fear of success.
I think many people on a whole have this same fear..
Its what you do with that fear to make yourself overcome is what counts.
For me, I know that life is filled with failure..
but if you look at the other side of the coin, life is filled with many successes too..
How do I really know what I can do, unless I try?
If I stand afar off, and look at something, and just say, I cant, then I wont..
but if I forge ahead and try..
who knows..
when I aim for the sky, the farthest place I can fall is on top of the trees..(get it?..LOL)
My mantra is and has always been..
"Nothing beats a try but a failure.."
I gotta at least "try"

"Impossible" is one of those words that only has the life breathed by the one who utters the word. What does that mean? Well, simply put; "success is not a destination, but a choice"- John C. Maxwell.

Many people have the fear of failure primarily due to a lack of heart to make the choice for success. Failure, to me, is not whether you reach a goal or not. It is, in fact, the inability to make a decision to move or change for the better.

The Bible declares that "All Things are possible to him that believeth." Most of us at some point and time need to reflect on what we really believe. We live in a day and age where everybody seems to be saying something. Positive or negative, there are thoughts and expressions that we all have.

I think that if we can get our hearts and minds fixed on the notion that "with Christ we can do All Things," fear of failure will become insignificant, because we all know that there is no failure in God.

Fear of Failure can only exist if we are moving outside of the will of God. The Bible states "In Him we Live, Move and Have our Being"...therefore, we stand complete in Him. Let us Live, Move and be Complete. The seconds of each day come and go, whether we decide to move with them or not. Let us be productive and prosperous, not complacent and without vision.

Be Blessed,

Elder David Leath

As I read the other comments, I begin to think about my self and what I have gone through in my life, I have to look at my life as not failures but stepping stones to become who it is I am purposed to be, until we recognize this one thing, life without purpose is life with out hope and direction. Our life is not about our lives, but to impact someone else.. In the soon to be release book "I can I will I did.. Daily reflections in pictures and verse" by Charles Plummer the quote "Fear is the catalyst of failure, and the glue of undeserved pain" speaks on the subject of fear and how it will hender and delay you from receiving what it is that God has already promised you..we need to trust in Gods promises, they werent made in vein.pcharles 37@aol.com
