United We Stand

I have an observation to make...

Just because a group is not divided, it doesn't mean they are united.

Let me say it another way: Though members of a team are not at odds against each other, it doesn't guarantee that they have actually developed into a team yet.

Here's where I'm going with this...I've seen various so-called teams or groups fail to perform at their highest level because they have not created that invisible "gel" that moves them from being a "collection of people" into a single unit.

There's something about unity that makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

If I'm going to be a part of a group, then I want the team to be successful. And if the team is going to be successful, then the higher virtue of unity must be achieved. (see Successful Teams)
