I told you earlier that we've been dealing with our Physical Health in my church's "100 Days to Wholeness" campaign. Our instructor, my mother, has really been drilling home a few facts:1. Gluttony (eating excessively) is a sin. Since there are no "big sins" and "little sins", gluttony can be discussed in the same sentence with adultery, stealing, and murder.
2. We are too sedentary. The nature of our comfortable culture leaves us sitting quite a bit. When we get no physical exercise, we can't help but put on excess weight.
3. Bad eating habits must be broken. Not only do we eat too much, we eat the wrongs things, often at the wrong times.
As I look at these three issues, they are all the result of a lack of self-control. I know that enjoy eating quite a bit, and most of my life has been spent living to eat, rather than eating to live. But if we're going to be healthy people, we need to get back in control!
I hope you will join me in a serious attempt to regain control of our eating and exercise habits. It really is a matter of life and death.
