I watched Spike’s documentary last night on the New Orleans debacle surrounding Hurricane Katrina. It was fascinating!
Here’s what I want to know…
Why did it take so long for the people of New Orleans to get assistance from the national government?
Parts III and IV air tonight on HBO at 9pm

Is the issue Race or Class (economic status)?
If the people of New Orleans were poor and WHITE, would the reaction have been different?
The problem is that race and class are typically separated by the same line. Black means poor.
