Secure

Monday, I did a piece on Insecurity. I am amazed at how many people really don't feel secure in themselves, and don't feel good about themselves.

In my opinion, Madison Avenue--the marketing and advertising 'establishment'--has a lot to do with this. Companies advertise to make you feel like you NEED their product or service to be complete. In other words, you are not really dressed until you wear our clothes...you are not pretty until you wear our make-up...you don't know good food until you've tasted ours.

People base how they feel about themselves on some of the most superficial criteria. (And once again, our capitalistic, money-driven society jumps right in to make a buck.) We are so concerned about how we look, what we wear, and what we drive that we don't even know who we really are!

Here's my question...what should make us secure? What about me should generate self-confidence?

I personally believe that my security should be a product of that which exists WITHIN me.

Tell me what you think...
