Not Just Gratitude...Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is the big day!

A time for friends, family, and lots of FOOD...oh yeah, and football, too.

Most people completely lose sight of the meaning of the Thanksgiving holiday. They are either so busy preparing for the day, or they are so glad that they have a day off, that the purpose of the holiday gets completely lost.

Even those that reflect on God's goodness towards them really don't go as far as they should.

Here's what I mean:

To be grateful is to be appreciative of what someone has done for you. Grateful is something that a person that experience all by themselves. I can be alone in my room, think about something that someone has done for me, and BE grateful.

Thanksgiving is different. Thanksgiving is the outward expression of a person's gratefulness. It is the communication of one's gratitude. So, this communication requires a sender and a receiver. You can't be thankful by yourself. AND, the expression must get to the receiver.

Don't just enjoy the fellowship of family and friends this Thanksgiving. And don't just settle for being grateful.

Take it to the next level and let God and others know how grateful you are by GIVING thanks.
