HUMAN Resources

Yesterday, in response to my question about the MLK Holiday, Anonymous wrote,

What sickens me most about Corporate America is its inconsistencies
regarding human resources (people!). The game of business requires a
stratagem all of its own that
degenerates people into disposable
commodities.
For all of us that work, or have worked for large corporations, we've had these exact sentiments. I know that I've OFTEN felt like just another cog in the wheel, another rat in the race. My labor and commitment often seem less important than results and production. My sacrifice of time, sweat, and tears (I ain't shedding no blood!) are overshadowed by the metrics my performance review.

So, if I'm a "human resource", the machine of the corporation is more concerned about me as a resource than a human.

Those companies that you see on the list of "Best Companies to Work For" are clearly doing a better job of treating people like people, and not "degenerating them into disposable commodities."

Your thoughts?
