I haven't had a chance to catch all the details (there have been so many recently), so any information you provide will be appreciated.
Can someone tell me WHY these folks are going into schools and killing children (see USA Today article)?
It is easier for me to understand why people go "postal"--going into their own (former) jobs, and shooting their boss and/or fellow employees.
But I don't understand the reason behind them going to schools filled with innocent young people and teachers. And most recently, the shooter kills themselves after shooting others.
Why can't they just shoot themselves? Why go into schools and shoot defenseless children?

I think that one reason this is happening more and more often is because of the spectacle. For some reason, people are glued to their TV's watching every detail of these school shootings. Is it really that entertaining?
My theory is that if the MASS media started essentially ignoring these stories, they would seem much less sensational, and there would be fewer "copy cats". Of course, the media in the local area has a duty to provide information to folks immediately impacted. But when every national media outlet grabs hold of these incidents, the circus begins. That, in my view, is not helping the situation.
I agree with you, Tony. I heard someone say once that the MASS media can only over-cover one event at a time and certainly school shootings fall into this category. I know it's niave - but why don't we overcover good news so that copy cats have something productive to copy?!
